Noisy., chaotic, adorned with sex toys but ultimately a visceral and triumphant dining experience.

Not easy to find, but worth the hunt Narukiyo is a Tokyo Izakaya - a type of informal drinking establishment that serves (quality) food to accompany the flowing drinks.

The rule of thumb here is to go Omakase which for the unitiated is a Japanese phrase that means "I'll leave it up to you" literally derived from Japanese "to entrust".

And you are in good hands with Chef Toru-san and his brigade of merry men. Expect a range of seasonal dishes, with an emphasis on fish and vegetables;.The food and presentation are uniformly good – don't be surprised if you find yourself cooing over the choice of crockery – and a well-chosen soundtrack of retro rock, funk and reggae adds to the appeal. Did I mention the sex toys ?
